Anna Laura Miszerak is an Italian-American opera director, assistant director, and choreographer working internationally in opera and theatre. Originally trained as a ballet dancer, she graduated from Nuovo Balletto Classico in Reggio Emilia (formerly Cosi-Stefanescu Ballet Academy) and performed with various companies across international venues, including Catania and New York. Alongside her performing career, she earned a Bachelor’s Degree with honours in Art History and Cultural Heritage from the University of Bologna. In 2022, she shifted her focus fully to opera, working as an assistant director and choreographer in both repertory and new productions. She recently completed the Advanced Directing Program at the Opera School of Teatro Comunale di Bologna. She has collaborated with numerous opera houses and directors across Europe and the US, including productions in Bologna, Wexford, Rijeka, Málaga, and New York. Her interests have also expanded into the world of cinema, collaborating on a film production between Rome and New York. She currently lives between Italy and the US.
In 2025, she received the Marineau Opera Grant for Women Stage Directors and Conductors, awarded by OPERA America to support her direction of L’amico Fritz at Teatro Grattacielo.
